We chose the WordPress framework to provide a content management system to underpin the new development. WordPress provides a solid and user friendly CMS which allows Equinox to manage all of their own content.
We also built a series of custom WordPress plugins, specifically to manage content in line with the website’s design. Examples of the custom content for Equinox TV include embedding Vimeo hosted videos and large full screen image carousels on each page, better able to advertise the diversity of the company’s work in a visually striking manner.
When designing the new Equinox TV website, we paid particular attention to mobile responsiveness, and how the increasing number of mobile users would interact with the new website. As a result, the website is entirely mobile responsive, meaning that it is fully interactive whether it is to be used on a large screen desktop monitor, or on a 4-inch iPhone (including everything in between). Such design is imperative for all modern websites where mobile browsing is quickly overtaking standard desktop browsing for many industries.
As with all of our websites, we pay particular attention to the search engine optimisation techniques used during development. With every CMS we build, the organic SEO allows for the companies to provide the best content possible for inclusion and ranking in search engine listings such as Google.
With every site launch we also submit full sitemaps to Google, informing them of the new website and all existing links, so the site indexing happens as soon as possible. For site re-designs and updates, we also take care of link re-directs, ensuring that any old pages are re-directed to the new equivalents, ensuring no traffic is lost during the transition process.
