Wakefield-based creative agency focuses on progress, not perfection, to achieve carbon-neutral status
Feel Created Limited (Feel Created), a Wakefield-based creative agency that offers graphic design, web design and development and marketing solutions, has reached its goal of becoming a carbon-neutral supplier.
As part of its target to become net-zero by 2025, the U.K. government aims to slash carbon emissions by 78 per cent by 2035, compared to 1990 levels1. Carbon-neutral suppliers will be well placed to support businesses making the transition to reduced-carbon operating models leading up to these dates.
"We've been committed for some time to being a carbon-neutral supplier, supporting our clients' net-zero goals. To understand the carbon we're outputting, we've undertaken rigorous online calculations and reduced our output where possible. We've also offset the remaining non-avoidable carbon."
Long goes on to add. “There is a but, which I’m sure all small businesses will relate to. It’s extremely challenging for small businesses to become officially certified. The costs are just not sustainable. But we don’t feel that should put anyone off doing their own calculations and benchmarking their progress. We shouldn’t be too hung up on deadlines and certifications. The time to act on regenerating the planet is now.”
Feel Created aims to reach certified carbon-neutral status in 2022 and, in the meantime, has partnered with several organisations to help support the process.
The agency invests in carbon offsetting and tree planting every month through the environmental organisation, Ecologi. The Ecologi platform champions transparency around climate impact and offers a measurable route to climate action. Feel Created is also signed up to the government’s Together For Our Planet initiative with the UK Business Climate Hub.
"Understanding the carbon footprint of our business puts us in a better position to offer carbon-reducing products and services to our clients," continues Long. "We offer several solutions that help clients reduce the carbon in the web design and development process, should they be looking to achieve it. We believe that focusing on progress, rather than perfection, is the best way to get started."
