Stanmore College
A clearer, more confident experience for prospective students
A flexible college website and visual identity that helps students explore courses with ease and take the next step with confidence.
Refreshing a college’s brand and website
Stanmore College’s old site was starting to show its age. The team had limited templates to work with, so some content was harder to present clearly. Course information was there, but prospective students did not always have the clearest route through it.
The brand also needed clearer direction. Across the website and wider college materials, the visual identity did not yet reflect the quality of the college or how it wanted to present itself within further education.
The project supported both the college’s wider regeneration and how it presents itself to prospective students.
An inviting starting point for prospective students
As the project evolved, it became clear that the platform needed to do more than present information. It needed to help students compare options, narrow their choices and find the right route into a course.
Prospective students do not all search for courses in the same way. Some arrive knowing exactly what they want to study, while others need help narrowing down their options. The platform needed to work for both.
At the same time, internal teams needed a more flexible way to manage content, without relying on rigid templates or ongoing developer input.
Our approach
We focused on creating a platform that prioritised clarity, flexibility and long-term usability.
Rather than treating the brand and website separately, we created them together. The visual identity helped shape how the website behaves, how content is structured and how users move through it.
Key areas of focus included:
- Course discovery and key user journeys
- Flexible, reusable patterns for easier content management
- A visual identity created for web and marketing
- Keeping accessibility central from the start
A new college visual identity
Alongside the platform, we developed a complete visual identity system for the college. The work covered logo refinement, colour palette, typography, iconography and supporting brand guidelines, helping the college communicate more consistently across digital, print and campaign materials.
The visual system also gives the site a clearer structure. Careful colour, contrast and typography choices help the identity feel distinctive without making the site harder to use. In contrast, subtle motion and interaction help users move through more detailed information with less effort.
Accessibility, hosting and ongoing support
Accessibility remained central throughout the project, with the platform designed and developed against WCAG 2.2 guidance to help keep the experience usable for a wide range of users.
We also focused on performance, reliability and long-term maintainability through a lightweight bespoke WordPress build, managed hosting and ongoing technical support.
Alongside hosting and maintenance, we continue to support Stanmore College with platform improvements, updates and ongoing development as the website and wider college requirements evolve over time.
Great to work with
Feel Created were great to work with. They listened to what we needed, explained things clearly and helped us create a website and brand that works much better for the college and our students.
