Working with our good friends at Solid Block, we recently developed a brand new brochure website for the Glamorgan Brewing Company based in South Wales. The team effort has produced some exciting designs and asked and developed a website that helps promote the brewery’s new brand and character.
This was an exciting project that involved working with bold designs, strong media and fun animations to bring the website to life.
WordPress was an obvious choice of content management system for this project. Glamorgan, with Solid Block, were looking for a comprehensive content management system that gave them full control over all content and media.
We developed a set of custom post types that gave Glamorgan full control over managing their core and seasonal beer ranges, as well as promoting their team and latest news from the brewery.
We believe in making the user experience for our clients as traightforward as possible. So we always develop the CMS to be easy to use, and clearly define every element that can be updated, from individual titles and introductory paragraphs, to content images and content blocks.

A specific feature of the Glamorgan website was the need for a promotional video on the homepage. We integrated with the YouTube API (Application Programme Interface). One really great feature of the Youtube API is the ability to manipulate events such as the start of the video, pausing the video or even the end of the video.
In the case of Glamorgan, they wanted to run a competion form, but only for visitors who watched the entire promotional video. As such, we had to alter the integration to remove the video controls (so user’s can’t skip to the end!), and then watch for the end of the video, at which point we loaded in the competion form.
This allowed Glamorgan to control visitor engagement, and reward those who consumed all the content with a chance to win a unique Glamorgan prize – a visit from the brewery’s beer float!
We spoke with Solid Block about the project and discussed ways we could help bring their ideas and the site to life. This resulted in quite a few animations throughout the site, some more basic interaction (such as button animations, on hover) to something more complex, using modern CSS options – improving site perfomance, like the cloud and flying bird.
The Glamorgan website is a fully responsive website and compatible with all modern browsers, It responds to screen size (for mobile devices and smaller screens geenrally) to ensure a consistenly high visitor experience and includes features such as a mobile specific menu and reordering of elements to keep things legible and looking great.
